As endorsements roll in, first woman VP says “my intention is to earn and win” Democratic presidential nomination

Yes it is real, you are not hallucinating.

President Joe Biden ended his re-election bid and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination. If she gets the party’s nod during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, she would become the first Black woman to receive a major political party’s nomination for president.

The developments have been flying fast, so let’s get to the highlights from the hours immediately after this news broke:

–Biden’s announcement triggered a parade of endorsements from prominent Democrats.

—ActBlue reported raising $46.7 million from small donors, its biggest single-day fundraising haul.

—Win With Black Women‘s previously scheduled Zoom meeting, initially planned for 1,000 Black women, attracted 40,000 attendees and lasted well past midnight Eastern time. A “Brown girl” fundraising link was shared and meeting organizers said donations topped $1 million in about three hours.

–A political action committee previously known as Haley Voters for Biden, formed by supporters of former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley, threw its support to Harris.

–The Democratic veepstakes kicked into overdrive immediately. Possible ticketmates included California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Michigan Gov.
