Alsobrooks, Hogan spar in Maryland Senate Debate

Are y’all paying attention to the Senate race in Maryland between Democrat Angela Alsobrooks and Republican Larry Hogan?
We certainly are!
If elected, Alsobrooks, currently the Prince George’s County executive, would become the first Black woman senator from Maryland and the fourth to join Congress’ upper chamber (after Carol Moseley Braun, D-Illinois, and Kamala Harris and Laphonza Butler, both D-California).
Naturally we watched Alsobrooks’ Oct. 10 debate with Hogan, governor of Maryland from 2015 to 2023, with great interest. The Maryland race is among the most expensive races in the country and could determine the balance of power in the Senate — which means it’s worth YOU watching it too!

Much like Alsobrooks, Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Delaware, is leading the race for Delaware’s open Senate seat. If elected, she would become her state’s first Black woman U.S. senator. She will debate Republican Eric Hansen on Oct. 16.
