Trump on Harris: “Is She Indian or Is She Black?”
The former president & GOP nominee questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’ Blackness
during hostile interview with 3 Black women journalists

First up: Republican nominee Donald Trump spent part of the last day of July at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago, where he was interviewed by three Black women correspondents: Rachel Scott of ABC News, Kadia Goba of Semafor and Harris Faulkner of Fox News.
Within minutes of taking the stage, Trump hotly declared Scott rude — and her employer “fake news” — because Scott ran down a litany of his past racist behaviors and asked why Black voters should help return him to the presidency. The interview, scheduled to last an hour, unraveled into a river of lies that were fact-checked by Politifact in real time. The conversation was abruptly cut short after about 30 minutes — just as Faulkner started to ask a question about Project 2025 but not before Trump said Harris, the daughter of an Indian mother and Jamaican father, “happened to turn Black.”

The vice president and presumptive Democratic nominee, speaking at the national meeting of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. in Houston, reacted to Trump’s tirade this way: “It was the same old show. The divisiveness and the disrespect. Let me just say, the American people deserve better. … The American people deserve a leader who tells the truth.”
Harris’ Houston speech was her third this month before an historically Black sorority. She addressed Alpha Kappa Alpha on July 10 and Zeta Phi Beta on July 24. You can catch the highlights here:
Kamala to the Donald: “SAY IT TO MY FACE!”
Where were you on July 30, when the vice president, a little over a week into her presidential bid, drew her largest campaign crowd yet? An estimated 10,000 people can say they were packed inside a convocation center on the downtown Atlanta campus of Georgia State University, listening intently as Harris declared that her path to the White House “runs right through” Georgia. Trump and his vice presidential running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, obviously aware of that very same path, were also scheduled to hold a rally in the Georgia State venue on August 3.
The highlight of Harris’s speech came when she addressed Trump’s recent decision to withdraw from his debate against President Joe Biden, which had been scheduled before Biden ended his presidential bid on July 21. She noted that Trump and Vance seemed to have a lot to say about her on the campaign trail, and urged the president to meet her on the debate stage.
“Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider,” Harris said. “Because as the saying goes, If you’ve got something to say, say it to my face!”
Harris was joined at the rally by rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Quavo, who has advocated for gun violence awareness since the 2022 shooting death of his nephew and fellow Migos rapper Takeoff.
